6Project Scanner

The Project Scanner lets you scan your DAW projects and see exactly which plugins are used in each one — without opening the DAW. Find missing plugins before opening a session, and get a detailed overview of your production workflow.

Supported DAWs

ProducerGrid can detect and scan projects from the following DAWs:

  • Logic Pro (.logicx) — Full plugin extraction, track listing, BPM, key, time signature, sample rate, audio files, preview image
  • Cubase (.cpr) — Plugin extraction, BPM, time signature, track count
  • Ableton Live (.als) — Plugin extraction, BPM, time signature, track count
  • Reaper (.rpp) — Plugin extraction and project metadata
  • FL Studio (.flp) — Project detection (plugin parsing coming soon)
  • Pro Tools (.ptx, .ptf) — Project detection (plugin parsing coming soon)
  • Studio One (.song) — Project detection
  • Bitwig Studio (.bwproject) — Project detection
  • GarageBand (.band) — Project detection
  • Reason, Ardour, Cakewalk, Tracktion, Mixcraft — Project detection

How to Scan Projects

  1. Navigate to the Projects tab in ProducerGrid
  2. Click Scan for Projects — ProducerGrid will search common locations (Documents, Desktop, Home folder)
  3. Browse and filter your projects by DAW, name, or folder
  4. Click on any project to scan it for plugins

Project Analysis

When you scan a project, you'll see:

  • Plugin List: All third-party and stock plugins used, with manufacturer, version, and preset info
  • Missing Plugin Detection: Plugins that aren't installed are highlighted so you can fix issues before opening the project
  • Track Listing: See all tracks and which plugins are loaded on each (Logic Pro)
  • Project Metadata: BPM, key, time signature, sample rate, track count
  • Audio Files: List of audio files and samples used in the project
  • Preview Image: Project thumbnail (Logic Pro)

Plugin Override System

For plugins that show as missing but are actually fine, you can:

  • Dismiss: Mark a plugin as intentionally removed or irrelevant — it won't show as missing anymore
  • Map to Installed: Link a missing plugin to an installed one (e.g., if the name changed after an update). Use the search to find the right match.
  • Undo: Remove any override to restore the original status

Project Organization

  • Virtual Folders: Create folders to group projects (like albums or categories)
  • Tags: Tag projects with custom labels for quick filtering
  • Sorting: Sort by name, date modified, DAW, size, or number of missing plugins
  • Search: Filter projects by name

Pro Tip

The metadata columns (BPM, Key, Tracks, Plugins) are visible in the project list without scanning. For Cubase and Ableton projects, this metadata is extracted automatically during the initial project search. For Logic, scan the project to get the full details.
